Happy 1st Birthday Jonas!

Well it is official. My baby is one. The other night Brian and I talked about where we were this time last year and it is hard to believe that I was laying in a hospital bed waiting to be induced. I will never forget the excitement, the love and the bittersweet moment of being in the hospital again this time to bring my baby home. I could just sit here and cry thinking about it. My life has never been happier or more fulfilled. Jonas is my world. I never knew that being a mother could be so good. We are so blessed to have this incredible little person as our son. He is so loved by so many people and I can't wait to see where that takes him.

Pumpkin Patch 10.19.08

Last weekend we took Jonas to the pumpkin patch for the first time. All though he is an October baby, he didn't actually come home from the hospital until Halloween night so we didn't get the chance to take him last year so this year I was so excited to finally take him!!

I am always taking pictures of other people's wedding rings on something cute so since Brian and I were married in October I thought the pumpkin was perfect!

This weekend I had so much fun photographing Lilly & Alex. Lilly is a natural in front of the camera already, but when she slipped into her incredibly gorgeous wedding gown, the camera fell even more in love with her.

I did Lilly & Alex's engagement pictures a few months ago in their beautiful home. I knew then that they would have amazing wedding pictures. They are two amazing people who are so in love. You can see it in the simple way that they look at each other and how they make each other laugh. I just felt so honored to be apart of their incredible day.

Another weekend and another beautiful wedding! Shannon & Andrew were married at Good Shephard Church in Lilburn. It was such a beautiful wedding and it all came together so nice thanks to Gail & Hester and their amazing staff at Wedding Soiree. They are such a great group of people and made the day so relaxed!

Katie and Ed flew in from Texas for their engagements this past week. We went to downtown Kennesaw and had so much fun doing them! Katie is one of the easiest people to photograph. She has these eyes that will just stop you in your tracks. They will be getting married November 2 so it is right around the corner.

92 years young...

My grandmother is the most amazing women that I know. She is 92 years old and is having the time of her life. She still makes her own dresses, makes adult bibs for the local hospice and wheelchair bags for the handicapped. She is the most loving, optimistic, giving person that I know. She is in love with life and uses her talents to help others. She truly is someone to look up to for so much.

Jonas and I visited her at her today and we had so much fun! We ate lunch together and headed outside for some pictures. I have wanted to take some pictures of her for years now but just never have so I am so glad that I followed through with it. She looked radiant, happy and undeniably in love. See, even at 92 she has fallen in love. She told me that it doesn't matter how old you are, when you are in love, it all feels the same. My grandfather died a few years ago and since then she has been living her life just as she always did. She met her boyfriend, Charles, while on one of her trips that she takes with her church. She always saw him on the bus but never talked to him. SO one day she decided to sit next to him and they started talking and found out that they had so much in common. His wife had died about twelve years ago and was a Chaplin at their local church. He had cancer which led to the loss of his left eye and used to be a Chaplin for death row inmates. He has lived an amazing life just as my grandmother.

Jonas is her 28Th great-grandchild. How incredible is that? It is just amazing to sit and talk to her about life and love. She gives me hope that love is everywhere and in everyone of us. Grandmother I love you. Thank you for all of the talks that we have had and for all the amazing things you have shown me. You live in my heart and I am a better person for that. -Lindsey

My 26th birthday!

I love birthdays. Most people dread them because it means another year has gone by and you are another year older. I embrace it. This past year has meant a lot to me and so much has changed. I feel that I am older and wiser, even more excited and in love, I feel that I have even more to give and I am so eager to learn. I love the stability of today and the uncertainty of tomorrow. It keeps things interesting.

Today I spent my birthday with the people that I love most. I got calls from friends and family that just wanted to say happy birthday and that they love me. I even got a text from my middle school best friend, Katie Wood, who lives in DC. Just to know that so many people love me and remember my birthday makes me feel so much love.

My life is pretty amazing. I am in love with the greatest man, I have the sweetest baby and the most loving family. I get to do what I love and I am happy. I have no regrets from this past year because every decision and every moment has led me to today. I am so blessed to wake up beside the love of my life everyday and to be at home with my son so I can watch him grow. I live in a happy home filled with so much love. I couldn't wish for anything more...

This was an amazing wedding with Kristin and Michael. I first met Kristin at the wedding of Meghan & Jon Horner a few months ago. I booked her over the phone so I never had a chance to meet her! She is such a genuine and sweet person. Throughout the entire wedding day she kept checking on Dawn and I to make sure that we were taken care of and that we had a chance to sit down and eat. That shows what kind of person she is!

As a photographer, you play many roles on the wedding day. You carry the bouquet, you show the couple how to cut the wedding cake and today was no different. Dawn and I were given the job as the "Train-carrier" I took this shot while we were walking!

This was a wedding with 3 brides! Kristin was referred to me by Tiffany and Meghan. I did Tiffany's (3rd from the left) wedding in June 2006 and Megan (2nd from the left) May 2008. That is what I love about this job, I get to see a lot of my brides at their friends weddings. I love referrals!!!

Dawn and I first met a while working at Lifetouch together. We would get assigned the same jobs so we grew to be really close friends. Dawn and I have been through a lot together, jobs, pregancies, babies and now businesses. We were both working towards growing our wedding photography business so we always had a lot to talk about. Well about 7 months ago her husband got a great job offer in Denver so they moved. We have now grown to be great "phone-friends." I talk to her just about everyday sometimes about absolutely nothing. I was able to visit her in Denver about a month ago and we had a blast. She will be flying in from Denver to second shoot at some of my upcoming weddings so I am so excited to see her and just work together again!

Last weekend we were able to go out and take some updated headshots of each other for our new websites that we are working on so I was so excited!!! Thanks Dawn for being such an amazing friend who will fly in to shoot a wedding with me and never think twice. You are amazing!

I have been looking forward to Kim & Rocky's wedding ever since their engagement session a few months ago. Like I said then, they are the most down to earth couple and so easy to be around. I felt like Kim and I had so much in common so we hit it off instantly! I hope that we stay in touch!

The beautiful wedding was in Calhoun in the same church that one of her bridesmaid's was married and the reception was at the beautiful home of Jeff & Bettina Briggs.

This wedding reminded me of why I DO what I do and why I LOVE what I do. I get to spend the day with the most amazing couples and all of their friends and family. Every weekend I get the opportunity to work with some amazing couples that I probably would have never met if I wasn't living my dream and doing what I love. I feel like there are so many people in the world that either are too afraid to venture out and follow their dreams or feel too secure with the job they have now. You spend countless hours stuck in a job that you don't like. Taking away time from your family, your friends and your life. It is all passing you by and for what? Is what you are doing worth giving up your life for?

Everyone has a dream. To be a chef, the next American Idol or a superhero. My challenge is for you to find a way to start incorporating it into your everyday life. Start small but dream big. Just be the person you were meant to be...

Labor Day 2008

Labor Day is always bittersweet. It's the end of the summer but the beginning of so many more things. The changing leaves, Homemade Apple Pie, the beautiful fall weather. It is my favorite time of year. This weekend we spent the last few official days of summer at my sister's beautiful lake house. We spent our days sitting on the dock or swimming with the kids. Brian and I even went out for a ride in the kayaks. It was a beautiful weekend spent with the people we love most. The whole time we kept talking about how fast the year has gone by. This time last year I was 9 months pregnant with Jonas and my sister was pregnant with her 2nd baby. Now they were here and actually playing together. Jonas is almost a year old and it is still hard for me to believe. He is almost walking and is really growing into the little person he will one day be. So as we all say goodbye to summer, remember that time flies. Before we know it we will be one year older and reminiscing about the past year. Enjoy every moment and always make time to do the things you love and share it with the ones you love.

Most people have someone that they look up to, an Idol if you will. Someone who inspires them, pushes them to be more than they thought they could and ultimately changes their life all while never knowing that they existed. We all think that if we could meet the one person that we look up to above all others that we would have something brilliant to say. It would sound perfect because you have rehearsed it over and over just in case it were to ever happen. This is where I found myself.

I was fortunate to walk up to the very man who has shaped me into the photographer that I am today and after rehearsing over and over what I would say to him I found myself at a loss for words. I felt like nothing I said would truly define what I was actually feeling. I walked up to him and I just said, "You have no idea."

I had the most incredible time in Denver! I got to meet the amazing, David Jay and the hilarious but also amazing, Becker. I flew into Denver Thursday and met my friend Dawn. Later our friend Mickie flew in from Atlanta and we all hung out before the seminar. The seminar was so much more than I thought it was going to be and we met some really cool photographers from Denver. Afterwards a few of the photographers got a personal tour of DJ's tour bus by DJ himself. Then we went across the street and had a late dinner. We didn't get home until after 2:00 and we had to get up at 4:00am to catch our flight back to Atlanta. Seriously, I had the best night of my life. I don't think that we will ever stop talking about it!!!

Full Circle

Last weekend my husband and I decided to take some updated pictures of our son Jonas. What started as a cute idea ended up being a full circle moment.

When we found out that I was pregnant, Brian's parents gave us the Playskool scooter that he rode when he was Jonas's age. We kept it in the nursery until he was big enough to sit on it. Well the other day we pulled it out and sat his little body on it and he knew exactly what to do. We put his chubby little legs on each side and he put his tiny baby feet on the ground and held on to the white, beat up handle bars. My little boy was sitting on the very scooter that my husband did when he was a baby. It was a full circle moment. I almost teared up when I was taking the pictures because time flies and one day his son may be siting on the same little scooter that his daddy sat on.

I knew as soon as I met Kim that we would be friends. We just instantly connected. She's the kinda person I could call up and hang out with.

Kim and Rocky are such an incredible couple and I had a blast doing their engagement pictures. Right before we started they told me how nervous they were but judging from their pictures I think they've done this before.

we chose downtown Acworth for their location and was right up my alley, literally. We found the most amazing alley with all sorts of goodies to use for their pictures and I was blown away by how they came out.

Luciana is what I would classify as a "Classic Beauty." I had so much fun working with her and Mike a few weekends ago. They had the ceremony at Park Tavern right in Piedmont Park and it was simply gorgeous.

One of her bridesmaids,Courtney, was a bride a few years ago and is the one responsible for the referral so I got to see a few of the other bridesmaids from her wedding as well. I just love when I get to see my brides again at a friends wedding! The wedding was absolutely beautiful and Luciana and Mike made my job so easy. Well after many hours and weeks of trying to design the perfect logo, I think that I have succeeded. It's modern, simple yet sophisticated. I want to thank my new best friend, Keith Greenstein, who worked his magic and created the coolest logo around! This past weekend we were able to spend a few days at my sisters gorgeous lake house on Lake Wedowee in Alabama. We had such a wonderful time swimming and riding the jet ski. The weather was absolutely perfect and we spent some nights watching the sun set on the dock. It was a great weekend!

Joanie and her husband Jimmy were able to come down for a few days and we took advantage of the opportunity to take some family pictures! They came out so perfect. I am so glad that I have these. We haven't had a family picture made since Jonas was born and that was 8 months ago! Brian and I also took a few of just the two of us. This was the second wedding of the day for Joanie and I and it was amazing. See, Meghan is a friend of Tiffany and Tiffany is one of our past brides. We photographed her wedding about two years ago. Well since we booked Meghan, her other friend, Kristin, booked us and we are doing her wedding in September. It was a full circle day for us! We love seeing past, present and future brides at our weddings!

Meghan and Jon had their beautiful ceremony at Peachtree Presbyterian Church and had their incredible, and I mean incredible, reception at The Atlanta Athletic Club. It was on the golf course and it was absolutely stunning. Everything about the night was amazing! They had a live band, The Grapevine, that kept everyone dancing all night long and the cake was to die for! I have to say that time flew and before we knew it we were saying goodbye! I was having such a good time that I forgot that I was actually working!

We wanted to thank Meghan's wonderful Maid of Honor, Liz Stanton from Something Old, Something New, for coordinating the entire day so well! It is always nice to have someone who is there to help you! She did an incredible job!

This past Saturday was busy for both of us! I had my first wedding of the day with Jesse and Josh at Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center. We did a wedding there a few years ago for one of their friends, Shannon & Jared, who referred them to us so I was able to be apart of their wedding! They were the sweetest couple, so sweet and down to earth! I really had fun and loved how the pictures turned out!

It was towards the end of the reception and everyone was getting ready to send Amanda & Shaw off to their honeymoon and I was sitting at a table going through some of my pictures when Shaw's mother came up to me. She was commenting on their engagement pictures and how beautiful they were. I was telling her thank you and listening to her comments and she just looked at me and said, "You must really love what you do." I replied with a huge grin, "Yeah, I do. I absolutely love what I do." She gave me a hug and said she couldn't wait to see the wedding pictures. I just sat there a moment and looked around. Here I am at someone's wedding being paid to photograph the most important day and intimate moments of their life. Every weekend I find myself falling more and more in love with my job. I get to meet some amazing people and I get to capture things that no one else gets a chance to see. Something that only the bride and groom know the significance of. Something that they will have for the rest of their lives.

I love what I do.

Amanda & Shaw decided to keep things traditional and not see each other before the wedding so they requested this picture. She wanted to lean on the same door as her soon to be husband and hold his hand before the wedding. This was just moments before she walked down the isle.

The wedding was at St. Peter St. Paul Episcopal Church and it was beautiful with so much natural light!

When Joanie and I pulled up to the Reunion Golf Club for Michelle and David Lynn's wedding, we were amazed at how beautiful it was! The sky was blue, there was a perfect breeze and we were right on the golf course for what turned out to be an amazing wedding!

When we got to the brides room we were greeted by Michelle who was so excited to show me her blue heels but I think I was more excited when I saw them! Of course we took a million pictures of them so we narrowed down our absolute favorites to post.

This was such an amazing couple to work with. They are so in love with each other and I think everyone there felt it. I know that they are going to amazing things together. Thanks for letting us follow you around all day and for letting us capture the sweetest moments between you both. You were so much fun to work with!

I had so much fun with Lilly & Alex and they adorable dogs, Reese (the greyhound) and Bella- the little one. We decided to do their engagement pictures at their home in Marietta. I am so glad that we did because we had so much to work with! Their backyard was perfect and we even did a few inside in the dining room and kitchen! I like working with the surroundings and really challenging myself.

Tuesday afternoon I met James & Summer downtown at the FOX to do their engagement pictures. They are getting married April 25, 2009 and after working with them, I am so excited about their wedding! This is one of many amazing pictures that we got while photographing Megan and Matt's wedding this weekend! I am so proud of this picture because I really thought about it unintentionally! I had already photographed the bouquet and taken it back to the bride. Well I was standing outside while we were waiting for the bridal party and I spotted this old, rusty bright blue Chevy and thought it looked so cool that way. Then I started to think of how bright the bouquet was and put two and two together. Then this photo was born. I love it and it's one of my favorite pictures that I have taken in a while. I think that it truly shows our photographic style and personality!

Jennifer & Eric Wedding

Saturday couldn't have been more perfect. Joanie and I find ourselves relaxing while eating pecan crusted chicken, scalloped potatoes, fresh green beans and sipping on the best homemade lemonade that we had ever tasted. We were surrounded by the sweetest, friendliest group of people that we have ever worked with. We looked at each other and said, "I love my job."

As if working with your best friend every weekend wasn't good enough, we had the honor of working with two of the sweetest people we have ever met. Jennifer and Eric both have hearts that many people can only hope for. She was constantly checking on everyone else and making sure that they were okay. She told us to try the lemonade and to make sure that we ate dinner. I mean, how sweet is that? They were more than a pleasure to work with and truly made us feel so welcome.

The day was so laid back and full of love. The weather was perfect, the flowers were beautiful and Jennifer never stopped smiling. When Eric looks into Jennifer's eyes you can feel the love that he has for her. They are a couple destined to live out their days together. We felt so honored to be a part of such a beautiful couple and the most important day of their lives. We love our job!

They were married at one of the most beautiful locations that we have ever photographed at, Magnolia Hall. Peggy was in charge of the day and did an incredible job. She was so easy to work with and was so laid back. Hope that we get to work with her again!

Did anyone get to see Oprah on Thursday? Well they were talking about how much stuff we waste day after day without even thinking about it. Your daily coffee to-go, paper towels, water and the biggest one, time. I think that everyday we are so absorbed in what everyone else is doing that we forget to take a breath and truly live in the moment. Well today I am proud to say that I have not turned on the tv. Not while I was eating, playing with Jonas, or just because I was bored. I, like the rest of America, watch way too much tv. When I thought about why I was doing it, I couldn't give myself a good enough answer so I turned it off. Since doing that I have been able to get so much more done! I ran my errands, unloaded the dishwasher and even managed to sneak in a photo shoot for Jonas. I feel refreshed and more focused. A great way to start the weekend.

So I challenge all of you, when you get home and are tempted to turn the tv on to watch an episode of Friends for the 5th time, turn it off and go for a walk or call a friend. I promise you will feel better!

Today was absolutely beautiful so I loaded up Jonas and we headed to the square to do some headshots for Amy from Amy VanMeter Events. Amy was the wedding planner for one of our past brides. Not only is she so easy going and relaxed, she is one of the sweetest people we have worked with. I offered to do some updated head shots for her since she has sent some of her brides our way. So if you are getting married and are thinking of hiring a Wedding Planner, Call Amy! She is amazing!

Amie & Justin Engagements

Well today I had such a great time doing the engagement pictures for Amie and Justin! They will be getting married in Houston, where most of their family is so they called me up to do their engagements! Beside the fact that the wind was blowing 132 MPH, we had a great time and I got some amazing shots of them! They brought their adorable mastiff puppy but he was huge, much bigger than the puppy I expected! So cute and very photogenic!

I did their pictures at Marietta Square. It has so much versatility and so many cool walls! Brian and Jonas came along as they often do. I love having them there with me! If I could take them to my weddings, I would! We have so much fun and Jonas is always a big hit with the ladies! Here are some of my personal favorites!

Since Jonas has come into this world, I discovered a love that I never knew was possible. He is the love of my life, my little buddy. He goes everywhere with me. He is just as laid back as my husband and I are and he just goes with the flow. I took these photos a few days ago in his nursery. He is almost 6 months old! You have to do pictures of them constantly because of how quickly they change. I never want to forget all of these little moments that make up our life :)

Amanda & Shaw

This weekend I had such a blast with Amanda & Shaw! We did their engagement pictures at Piedmont Park which is one of my favorite spots to photograph. It had poured the night before but the weather was perfect. The clouds even moved out so we had a chance to see the skyline!

Now to all of my future brides, you have some competition! Amanda is not only gorgeous and so much fun to work with, but she was up for anything! She walked through the mud (in heels) to get in position for the perfect shot, danced with her soon to be hubby while a stranger played the saxophone and even climbed a tree. They were incredible to work with! When you look at their pictures you can see how much fun they have together. They are two of the sweetest people and I am so excited for their wedding on May 24!! Thanks guys! You are the best

Lindsay & Tim were married this past Saturday at Primrose Cottage in Roswell. We have actually photographed another wedding there last April so it was nice to be there again.

Joanie and I just wanted to thank Lindsay & Tim and all of their wonderful bridesmaids and groomsmen for withstanding the extremely cold weather! It was absolutely freezing Saturday night, I think it was about 29 degrees) and they were all such good sports and came outside to do most of their pictures. We are so glad that you did and you will be too when you see how they came out.

The wedding was supposed to be outside but luckily they moved it inside to the ballroom where it was nice and toasty! Here are some of our favorites. Most of them are the details from the day but none the less important!

Today was able to photograph Amy & Wes and her beautiful baby bump! We photographed their wedding last March so it was nice to see them again! She is due in two weeks so we were lucky that we did the pictures in time! They came out so cute! Can't wait to meet baby Hailey!

I helped my friend Dawn with a the Millionaire Club event this past weekend. It was at the Georgian Aquarium so it was a really cool set up! Ohh....It is so nice to get back into the swing of things! Wedding season is starting up and we just did our first one of the year! It was an awesome wedding! Holli and Oli were married in Newnan at The Mill. It was a really cool location right next to some railroad tracks so of course we took advantage of that! It was cold but everyone tuffed it out and they are going to be so glad that they did! Check out some of their pictures. Is Oli not the cutest thing you've ever seen? He was so easy to photograph!

Well Brian and I had a great Valentines Day. This morning I woke up and did my normal thing, get Jonas out of his crib, change & feed him and then come down to the office to check my email. Brian had written me a letter in Microsoft Word and left it open on my screen so it would be the first thing I saw. I started reading it and I just cried. He is so good at telling me how much he loves me. It is definitely something I know for sure. He still gives me butterflies.

We had a pretty simple night. We made hamburger vegetable soup (my favorite!!) and homemade chocolate cupcakes. It was delicious. Then we put Jonas to bed and cuddled on the couch to watch Survivor. Life is good.

This past weekend the Turner family packed up and we headed down to Newnan to visit my sister, her husband and my precious nephew, Chase. 2 1/2 years I was there taking pictures of her belly when she was pregnant with him. Now she is pregnant with baby #2 and is waiting to find out what it is until delivery day! We had such a great time taking her pictures. She was such a good sport because it was cold & windy outside! Here are some photos from my wedding day. Brian and I knew when we first started dating that we were going to get married. We fell head over heels in love with each other and still are to this day. I can honestly say that I still get butterflies when I hear the garage door open and I know that he's home. He is my best friend (besides Joanie of course, but he's okay with that.) Seriously Brian and I have been through a lot together in the short time that we have been married. He is my rock and my teddy bear. I never knew love until I met him.

When we decided to get married, well when Brian decided to propose, we knew that we wanted to do something different. I always wanted to get married outside, on the the beach, in my bare feet. We did just that. We planned our wedding and didn't tell anyone what we were doing. We pre-ordered post cards to send out to everyone once we arrived in Maui. They said "Lindsey & Brian...Just Mauid."

We were married on October 4, 2005 and we spent 10 days in the most beautiful place in the world. We were married on a Tuesday morning at 9:00am, when everyone else in the world was on their way to work. We went to a Luau that night for our "Reception." The rest of our days were spent exploring the island. We went horseback riding down an old volcano, snorkling with turtles, took a helicoptor ride over the island and had some of the best french toast in the world. It was pure bliss. Here are some of my favorite pictures from our wedding/honeymoon. Enjoy!!!

Locket

This is a locket that I had made over the weekend. This was very special to me and I thought long about how I wanted to do it. Some of you may know that in October 2006 My first baby, Lucas, was stillborn due to complications during the pregnancy. I was 7 1/2 months along. It was the most heartbreaking and humbling thing I ever had to experience. There is nothing like the loss of a child and I will forever hold him in my heart. I was then blessed with my beautiful son, Jonas. He was born this past October, almost a year to the date of Lucas' birthday. I wanted a way to keep them both close to my heart so I decided to get this locket made. On the front there is a monogram. "J" for Jonas, "L" for Lucas and "T" for Turner. On the back are both of their birthdays and inside is a picture of each of their footprints. I absolutely love how it came out and I can't wait to tell people the story behind it.

A few days ago I decided to email one of my photography idols, Jasmine Star. She is an incredible photographer based out of California. Seriously she has no idea how much her photography has changed my own. Her photos are unlike anything I have ever seen and will make your jaw drop. Well after I sent it I checked my email every two hours to see if by any small chance she responded.Right before going to bed one night I checked my email one last time and there it was! I must first start off by saying what an incredible photographer you are. I stumbled upon your website after religiously checking on David Jays blog. I saw the pictures that you took of him and his girlfriend and my jaw dropped.

I am a photographer in Atlanta, GA. I'm still not exactly where I want to be with my business but I am well on my way. I just had to tell you what an inspiration you are to me and the way I choose to approach my photography. For years I have drooled over David Jays photographs. He has no idea but he has shaped me into the photographer that I am today. He showed me that wedding photography can been the most fulfilling and creative job there is. I owe my thanks to him. Today I went to visit my friend Dawn and her beautiful daughter Poppy. It was my first visit to her house since Jonas was born. We went to lunch and I took a few pictures of her for her website. They came out so cute. Dawn and I had sort of an unexpected friendship. A few years ago we both worked at Lifetouch taking school pictures. We became instant friends and have been really close since then. We have helped each other out with some of our weddings and we have so much fun. Joanie and Dawn got to hang out a lot during my last few months of my pregnancy since I wasn't photographing any weddings. Joanie and I just love Dawn and we have so much fun with her!
